6 Sunland-Tujunga 04-02-16 Yes Eve Sinclair   10228 Russett Avenue, Sunland, California 91040 (818) 640-9422 eve.sinclair@yahoo.com Inappropriate endorsements of candidate On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 2:52am, an endorsement for Krystee Clark as STNC president (currently, she is a group rep on the STNC board) was posted on the official Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council Facebook page, which links directly from the official STNC website (stnc.org). It was posted by Jon von Gunten, candidate for a Group Rep position (he is the current group rep for Neighborhood Watch on the board), and liked by Dana Stangel and 5 others. On March 30, at 12:52am, an endorsement for Charlie Bradley as STNC's First Vice President (he is the current First Vice President on the board) was posted on said STNC Facebook page. On March 31, at 2:02am, an endorsement for Dana Stangel as STNC's Second Vice President was posted on said STNC Facebook page. On April 1, at approximately 2a, an endorsement for Nina Royal as Secretary of STNC (she is the current Treasurer of the STNC) was posted on the STNC Facebook page. I discovered these violations April 1 at 2:05a, as the endorsement for Nina Royal happened to come across my Facebook feed, as I am a follower of the STNC official Facebook page. I reported these board endorsements to appropriate election officials on the morning of April 1 at 8:25am, along with supporting photographic evidence. All of the board endorsement posts were suddenly and summarily deleted from the official STNC page later that morning after the endorsements had been reported. Terrence Gomes replied to me April 1 at 10:13a that the STNC claimed the posts had been put onto their Facebook page by another party. This was an inaccurate response, as posting to the STNC Facebook page requires admin approval; posts that aren't approved by their admin do not make it onto their page. In addition, the exact same endorsements were posted to other Sunland-Tujunga community Facebook pages by Jon von Gunten at the same times, along with instructions to the candidates to 'BOOST'. These endorsements were then liked, shared, and commented on by board candidates, showing that this was part of an organized social media campaign by board members; these posts are still active on those pages (I have photographs as well). At 11:13a on April 1, I asked election officials for an official public acknowledgement, apology, and retraction by the STNC board; none was ever provided. The five candidates (Krystee Clark, Charlie Bradley, Dana Stangel, Nina Royal, and Jon van Gunten) that were directly involved in and who benefited from the endorsements by the STNC board during this election process violated Candidate Guideline #4: "You shall not receive endorsements from the governing Board of the NC." I request the appropriate remedy for violating the board endorsement guideline. 7 Sunland-Tujunga 04-02-16 Yes Sean Martin   10043 Marcus Ave , Tujunga, California 91042 (323) 402-6062 smpmartin323@gmail.com Concerns regarding BallotsCampaign Material IssuesElectioneering by candidatesObserver/Media Issues
I've found serious issues with my local election processes. I went there and tried to help the people through the process, I was quickly signed up and Glen was tentative but ok about signing me up, but everyone else quickly put the clipboard to sign in, in my hands. I helped everyone in line receive and correctly fill out the initial paper, answering questions and passing out clipboards to write on. After I had completed that task, I went back to the tables and asked to help the verification workers, as there was 5 sitting and one standing, pacing frantically around, trying to cut certain people through the line. I asked one worker how to verify people, and the pacing woman showed me a verification paper, a typed letter the voter had brought, and his ID, which revealed name and address that clearly matched. So I said, I approved, and advised him to get a ballot. But he was denied by the woman, and glen backed me out of from the area and said I wasn't welcome anymore. I witnessed more than 50 people being turned away in the short amount of time I observed and acted as a volunteer. a bunch of people got disenfranchised due to short hours of operation, lack of personnel, inefficient promotion and education about the issues, voting process, or candidates, a long and absurd line that sent more than 50 people away, but the director kicked me out for questioning and suggesting alternatives to dealing with the voting process and large crowd as a whole. I had heard through no media coverage that The election was settled by a difference of twenty.
Their line was disenfranchising voters and deterring them from voting.
Why is there no pre-registration? Why was the election held in a small, busy parking lot on a common grocery day for working families, which was not suited to appropriately accommodate normal traffic to the polls AND to the business?
There was a double speak of wanting volunteers while refusing help from a qualified and motivated individual.
I also was witness to racially based disenfrichisment against the Armenian community based on lack of English proficiency.
I feel that our voting process should always be at the convenience to the voter, and local governments first priority to their constituents is to provide fair and simple elections. A removal of current election committee personal and a full reform of the election process, with a full revote For the community. Moving forward we must adhere to the need to serve our constituents with fair, simple, and efficient election processes to ensure corruption free elections.        SeanMartinElectionChallengeDetermination041416.pdf IEA Dismissed 04-14-16

She turned away multiple people because she said they were not qualified to vote. Everyone should vote. Also, she had asked "Chris" (paid pole worker)  for a ballot and said that Glen Bailey had approved it. Chris didn't give it to her and when confirmed with Glen Bailey. Glen denied that he said such a thing. Brenda was unethical and had a horse in the race, Brenda should be fined and banned from any future participation in NC and city government.       GarenTevanianElectionChallengeDetermination0414016.pdf IEA Dismissed 04-14-16

She had no right being the Elections Coordinator and present at the time of the elections. She influenced votes and was also one sided. The fact that at the end of the first count the runner up president was down by 35 votes and after the recount he was only down by 13 votes goes to shop misconduct and person and persons should be help responsible. Cindy should be held accountable financially and/or suspended from ever participating in neighborhood council government.       GarenTevanianElectionChallengeDetermination0414016.pdf IEA Dismissed 04-14-16

They kept emailing and posting on facebook that the STNC endorces the top 5 executive positions. Cindy who was the Elections Coordinator showed racism and used her resources in the city to create hell for the other running candidates. the president in particular.  All 4 candidates that were endorsed by the STNC should be disqualified. Cindy should be never be on a NC board. Kristee Clark, Charles Bradley, Dana Sangal, Nina Royale all should be disqualified because the violated a very crucial rule in the election by participating in the endorsement process on facebook and in public.       GarenTevanianElectionChallengeDetermination0414016.pdf IEA Dismissed 04-14-16
11 Sunland-Tujunga 04-02-16 Yes Eve Sinclair   10228 Russett Avenue, Sunland, California 91040 (818) 640-9422 eve.sinclair@yahoo.com Campaign Material IssuesInappropriate endorsements of candidate During the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council election process, several key rules were violated by current board members that were running for reelection. Endorsements of four current board members – Krystee Clark, Dana Stangel, Charlie Bradley, and Nina Royal - were posted by another board member, Jon von Gunten, on the official STNC Facebook page, which links directly from the official STNC website (see upper right corner of stnc.org), clearly violating the election rule: “The governing Board of the Neighborhood Council, acting in their official capacity as the governing Board, is prohibited from endorsing or campaigning for any candidate or group of candidates running for the governing Board of the Neighborhood Council.”
In addition, the official STNC Facebook page displayed the City of LA Seal and Sunland-Tujunga’s official logo on the cover photo of the page, violating another election rule: “The use of the City of Los Angeles Seal, the Department, City Clerk or Neighborhood Council logo or any other official Neighborhood Council designation created by the Department is prohibited for use on candidate materials. Any use of a logo, regardless of intent, will be considered a violation of this article and the Neighborhood Council Election Procedures unless the logo is used as part of outreach material produced by the City, a City department, or the Neighborhood Council for the sole purposes of promoting the election. If such outreach material contains candidate names, all qualified candidates must be listed on the material. The purpose of this provision is to prevent candidates or supporters of candidates from campaigning under the expressed or implied endorsement or authorization of the City, a City department, or a Neighborhood Council and prevent voter confusion.” If the city seal or NC logo is used on outreach materials by the STNC which contains candidate names, they must include ‘all qualified candidates’. The official STNC did not endorse, profile, or include statements from any other candidates besides those on their own board members’ ‘experience slate’.
The last rule transgressed was: “City resources may be used by a Neighborhood Council for impartially communicating with voters through the printing and mailing of a voter information pamphlet, which includes candidate statements and/or the posting of candidate statements on its website. To the extent that the Neighborhood Council provides candidate statements to the voters or Neighborhood Council mailing lists to candidates, all candidates shall be given access in a timely and uniform manner.” Neighborhood councils are certified bodies of the city family and the official STNC Facebook page is a city asset. The current board of the STNC failed to communicate impartially with voters, only posting candidate statements of members of the current board who were running for reelection. The STNC Facebook page is not open to the public for posting and requires admin approval to post. As a candidate, I myself tried to post about a weekend candidate forum to the STNC Facebook page but was denied by the STNC admin. Candidates were denied uniform access to this city resource throughout this election process.
The remedy requested is the disqualification of the four candidates – Krystee Clark, Charlie Bradley, Dana Stangel, and Nina Royal - who received and benefitted from the endorsement of the current STNC board, as well as the disqualification of Jon von Gunten, another board member also running for reelection, who posted the endorsements on the official STNC Facebook page, linked to from the official STNC website. These board endorsements were highly improper, as was posting them on a city asset, branded with the city seal and Neighborhood Council logo, and denying uniform access to all of the candidates. When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.

Read more about converting a column into a table.
