Article XIV, section 1
The Land Use Committee showed obvious and deliberate bias in the handling of the review of our appeal on a decision for a Zone Variance. After attending hearings and being very transparent and cooperative the committee voted, the vast majority of members abstained from voting on the motion to oppose our application. They issued a letter of opposition, I conferred with John Darnell he advised the motion did not carry, I advised them they did not respond until after our  hearing, when they did revise that letter of opposition it contained a majority of language that the committee did not approve and did not accurately represent the official opinion of the committee. Again they did not listen, I was forced to request John Darnell to intervene which he did. More recently, we attended a full board meeting, the LUC stated that they would like to see any new project information at their next meeting, we agreed that we would appreciate their input but could not prepare that information in time for the meeting. It was our understanding we were to return in February, in January we got a courtesy notice that we were on the agenda, then we were told that was an error. Then we received a letter of opposition. Apparently the project had been before the LUC in December with out our presence or notification, and no new information. This was also the first time our project was heard and we received no courtesy notification, I understand that this is not a requirement of the Brown Act, but it is a matter of moral and ethical decency and transparency and in that sense falls well within the guidelines and regulations of the Bylaws. This letter of opposition is also incredibly biased, it cherry picks decisions that favor the president of the LUC's personal disposition while neglects votes that conflict with her view. This behavior is the latest in what has been a patter on this project alone. This is not fair and objective behavior, this is bias manipulation of an elected position to further a political agenda, the rules and regulations in this sense are very clear in that this is not what should be done.

This is not the first instance of offensive behavior, they have already been warned and required to modify their official actions. These mistakes create very real material damages to our case and these are not minor issues, to issue an action it is critical that the decision maker be sure and understand what they are doing is in keeping with their rules and regulations. To have this happen not once but twice, infers that very serious action should be taken to correct this, I would venture to say the most serious action available given the sophisticated nature of the offence. I would like to see this remedied not only for the sake of my project but for the sake of all the projects in the community, to ensure they receive fair and objective decisions in keeping with the by laws of the neighborhood council.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
