At last night's, November 2nd,  UNNC governing board meeting, Jenise Lacy requested funds for CD10 Winter Wonderland event, under the guise of her 501(3) (c). However, with Jenise Lacy being the daughter of Sylvia Lacy, who works for CD10 isn't this a conflict of interest?

I sat on the UNNC board for 7 years as Chair of Parks & Rec, and also Secretary. The executive board, when first presented with the request, should have contacted your office.

I would like clarification on this question.  The UNNC board was either unwilling or afraid to deny the request which in any case is not good leadership and also has set a precedent of bias.

I recently stepped down as UNNC secretary out of frustration.  I created several very successful events in the Jefferson Park community events such as having Leslie Shaw park renovated after 40 years, and hosting a UNNC sponsored Kids Holiday festival for 4 yrs, also hosting another UNNC sponsored National Night Out, and would have done more, had I not started getting pushback under the "conflict of interest.", of which there wasn't. Jefferson Park is a growing family community, and these events are helping to create a community if unity, of which I thought, UNNC was about.

I wanted to host a Save our Sons luncheon for at-risk young men in the community.  I was told that the event was a "conflict of interest."  I was referred to our city attorney, who found no conflict, however, the time had elapsed to make the necessary preparations, that the event did not happen.  Another time I suggested we have a caterer, who was a friend, no less she is a professional, prepare the food for our meetings since it had become challenging to find volunteers.   I was told that this was a conflict because she was a friend.  Which made perfect sense. I feel that UNNC is not following policy and are not consistent.

I love Jefferson Park and I will continue to be active in this community.  In 2009, my then 26 yr old son, Jerell Green was murdered in a drive-by in the parking lot on Jefferson & Arlington, which caused me to become very active.  I will continue to advocate for my community because my son's blood was shed in Jefferson Park.

Thank you.

I look forward to hearing from you.
The code of ethics.  Jenise Lacy is using her 501 (3) *c) to request funds to use at a CD10 event, where her mother Sylvia Lacy works and participates in the event.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.

Read more about converting a column into a table.
